Listed activities triggered by the project include: LISTED ACTIVITY EIA SCREENING FINDING 8. WATER RESOURCE DEVELOPMENTS (8.1) The abstraction of ground or surface water for industrial or commercial purposes. (8.7) Irrigation schemes for agriculture excluding domestic irrigation. - Water abstraction from five (5) nearby boreholes will be required for the Project. The groundwater demand has been estimated at a maximum of one (1) million cubic meters per annum (Mm3/a) for each of the two (2) planned cultivation phases. A groundwater assessment and development report has been conducted for the Project. - The water abstraction licences will be obtained from the Department of Water Affairs (DWA) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform (MAFWLR) prior to the commencement of the Project as per the Water Resources Management Act, No 11 of 2013.
