260105006847 - Renewal of ECC for the existing Sand Mining Activities for Oranjemund Town Council

The Oranjemund Town Council was issued with an ECC for the Sand mining Activities on a portion of its townland. The ECC was issued in 2021-02-09 and expired in 2024-02-09. Sand is an important element for township development (construction of roads housing, landscaping, etc), and it is one of the key building blocks for socio-economic development, and hence sand mining is inevitable (cannot be avoided). The Oranjemund Town Council intends to continue with the ongoing sand mining operations on the same premises and requires a new ECC for continued operations. In line with the Environmental Management Act 07 of 2007 and its Regulations of February, the Oranjemund Town Council has appointed Green Gain Consultants cc to update the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and subsequently apply for the renewal of the expired ECC.

Commenting of the public on this project will expire at 12h00 on the 2026-02-25
