251127006740 - THE APPLICATION FOR THE RENEWAL OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE EXISTING 132KV OTJIKOTO – COPPER TRANSMISSION LINE INCLUDING COPPER SUBSTATION OTHER ASSOCIATED INFRASTRUCTURES.

Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as “energy distribution, transmission and generation” requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. In 2022, NamPower obtained the Environmental Clearance Certificate for the management and operation of the 132kV Otjikoto – Copper transmission line and would therefore like to apply for the renewal of the ECC for 132kV Otjikoto – Copper transmission line to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. The 132 kV Otjikoto–Copper transmission line was constructed in 2013 and spans a distance of approximately 12 kilometres. The line runs from the Otjikoto Substation to the Copper Substation, located north of Tsumeb in the Oshikoto Region. This Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) also includes the Copper Substation, which covers a footprint of approximately 2,349 square metres. The transmission line is constructed using guyed steel monopole structures.
