The Proponent Zhonghe Resources (Namibia) Development (Pty) Ltd requires the ECC No. 01932 for the EPL No. 3602 issued on the 1 February 2022 and expired on the 1 February 2025 to be renewed with respect to the proposed / ongoing minerals exploration in the Exclusive Prospecting License (EPL) No. 3602, situated in Swakopmund / Karibib Districts, Erongo Region. The proposed / ongoing minerals exploration activities covers the following: 1. Initial desktop exploration activities (review of existing information and all previous activities in order identify any potential target/s). 2. Regional reconnaissance field-based activities such mapping and sampling to identify areas with potential targets based on the recommendations of the desktop work. 3. Initial local field-based activities such as widely spaced mapping, sampling, surveying and possible drilling in order to determine the viability of any delineated local target. 4. Detailed local field-based activities such very detailed mapping, sampling, surveying and possible drilling in order to determine the feasibility of any delineated local target. 5. Prefeasibility and feasibility studies to be implemented on a site-specific area if the local field-based studies prove positive followed by test mining. The scope of the field-based support and logistical activities will be dependent on the scale of proposed exploration activities to be undertaken. The proposed exploration activities will be supported by existing tracks and campsites / farmstead as well as existing accommodation in the local area as may be applicable. In the absences of existing tracks, the field team will create such new tracks with the permission of the land owner/s and depending on the scale of exploration. In the absences of existing suitable campsite / farmstead, a temporary camp site will be setup at suitable locations in line with the EMP provisions within the EPL area. The size of the exploration camp will be of very limited footprints during the exploration phase but may be expanded for the subsequent mine development phases in an event of a discovery. The overall severity of potential environmental impacts of the proposed / ongoing project activities on the receiving environment (physical, biological, socioeconomic environments and ecosystem functions, services, use and non-use values or passive uses) will be of low magnitude, temporally duration, localised extent and low probability of occurrence. Mitigation measures must be implemented as detailed in Section 6 Scoping and EMP Report attached. The proponent must obtain permission of the landowners (surface rights holders) before exercising their subsurface rights in all the farms covered by the EPL 3602.
