250820006285 - THE APPLICATION FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF AN EXISTING OSONA – TOWER, SWAKOPPOORT- GROS BARMEN AND SWAKOPPOORT – SWAKOPPOORT BST ELECTRICAL RETICULATION SYSTEM AND OTHER ASSOCIATED INFRASTRUCTURES.

Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as “energy distribution, transmission and generation” requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the ECC for the operation and maintenance of Osona – Tower electrical reticulation system to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. The Osona – Tower and Swakoppoort – Gros Barmen – Swakoppoort BST electrical reticulation system route runs westwards from the Osona Substation to Swakoppoort Base Substation with various supply points including the Swakoppoort Dam and farms along the route in Otjozondjupa region. This electrical reticulation system has a total length of 56 km and has towers constructed with wooden structures. This ECC includes other infrastructures that are: Swakoppoort Base Substation, Okongava Substation, Tower Substation and Swakoppoort Booster Substation as indicated on the map below. Swakoppoort Base Substation, Okongava Substation, Tower Substation and Swakoppoort Booster Substation cover a footprint of about 588 m², 94.2 m², 54 m², 844 m² respectively.
