NamPower would therefore like to apply for the ECC for 132kV Gerus – Whale Rock including Whale Rock Substation to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. The 132kV Gerus – Whale Rock route runs south-eastwards, from the Gerus Substation to the Whale Rock Substation adjacent the Cheetah Cement Factory, in Otjozondjupa Region, and is 28.5 km in length. This transmission line is 132kV, but it is being run at 66kV. The line is constructed with steel monopole structures. Whale Rock substation covers an area of about 425 m².
