250225005436 - THE PROPOSED BULK URBAN INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES IN OPUWO, KUNENE REGION, NAMIBIA

The Development Workshop Namibia (DWN) is implementing the Project “Poverty-Oriented Development of Infrastructure in urban areas of Namibia” with financial support from KfW. The project seeks to contribute to more sustainable and inclusive urban development in Namibia by supporting DWN to plan and develop low-cost residential land with titles in 15 towns across Namibia. The objective is to transform current informal settlement growth into formal urban growth and to initiate and contribute to changing the way urban planning is done towards a more holistic and participatory planning approach to create socially and economically conducive living environments. DWN has planned to deploy part of the KfW grant through Component 2 of the project to hire Lund Consulting Engineers (LCE) to design and supervise the construction of various pro-poor infrastructure components in (amongst others) the town of Opuwo. The proposed Bulk Urban Infrastructure include the construction of an electrical power supply line; gravelling of the main roads; rehabilitation of an existing sewer pump station; rehabilitation of a bulk electrical line and construction of bulk water pipelines.
