Store Dordabis is a key local establishment located in the small settlement of Dordabis, roughly 60 kilometers southeast of Windhoek in the Khomas Region of Namibia. Dordabis is a rural community with agricultural activities being a primary source of livelihood, and Store Dordabis plays a central role in supporting the needs of both residents and surrounding farming communities. As one of the main supply hubs in the area, Store Dordabis provides a variety of essential goods and services to the local population. These include groceries, farming supplies, basic household items, and fuel. The store is a focal point for residents in the area, offering convenience in a remote part of the country where accessing larger retail stores in Windhoek can be time-consuming and costly. In addition to its retail function, Store Dordabis often serves as a gathering place for the local community, with customers frequently exchanging news, engaging in discussions, and seeking advice on farming and other rural issues. It plays a crucial role in fostering community engagement and supporting the rural economy by providing goods that enable local agricultural and small business activities. The settlement of Dordabis is also known for its proximity to the Dordabis Iron Ore Mine, operated by Lodestone Namibia. The presence of this mine contributes to the local economy and increases traffic to the store, as mine workers and related service providers often rely on Store Dordabis for supplies and provisions. Given its significance, Store Dordabis is more than just a retail outlet; it serves as a vital connection point between Dordabis and the broader Namibian economy, reinforcing its importance in the daily life of the community. The fuel supplied is sourced from Engen Namibia (Pty) Ltd, who owns the installations. ENGEN Namibia (Pty) Ltd as a leading marketer of liquid fuels and lubricants in the country aims to ensure that all their clients and facilities are compliant with the relevant environmental and industry legislation. It is against this background that Engen has appointed Environam Consultants Trading (ECT) to apply for an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for this site on their behalf.
