241112004944 - THE APPLICATION FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF AN EXISTING 220kV KHAN – ROSSING TRANSMISSION LINE.

The ECC is for the operation and maintenance of an existing 220kv Khan – Rossing transmission line. Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as “energy distribution, transmission and generation” requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. The 220kV Khan - Rossing was constructed before the promulgation of the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the issue ECC for 220kV Khan - Rossing in order to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.
