241112004940 - THE APPLICATION FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF AN EXISTING 66kV OKAPYA – EFUNDJA TRANSMISSION LINE INCLUDING OKAPYA AND EFUNDJA SUBSTATIONS AND OTHER ASSOCIATED INFRASTRUCTURES.

The ECC is for the operation and maintenance of an existing 66kV Okapya – Efundja transmission line including Okapya and Efundja substations and other associated infrastructures. Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as “energy distribution, transmission and generation” requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. The 66kV Okapya – Efundja transmission line was constructed was constructed before the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the issue of the ECC for 66kV Okapya – Efundja transmission line in order to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. This application also includes Okapya Substation and other associated Infrastructures.
