The ECC is for the operation and maintenance of an existing 220kV Rössing– Lithops transmission line including Rössing substation and other associated infrastructures Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as “energy distribution, transmission and generation” requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the issue ECC for 220kV Rössing– Lithops in order to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. This application also includes Rössing Substation and other associated Infrastructures.
