The ECC is for the operation and maintenance of the existing 66kv Naruchas – Rehoboth transmission Line. The 66kv transmission line from Naruchas substation to Rehoboth substation was constructed in 1980 prior to the commencement of the Environmental Management Act and its regulation, as a result there was no environmental impact assessment study conducted for the project prior to its development. It is therefore against this background that NamPower intends to apply for the operational Environmental Clearance Certificate in order to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.
