240731004503 - Environmental Clearance Certificate for the Continued Operation of the Existing Fuel Consumer Installations at Lodestone Namibia (Pty) Ltd in Windhoek Rural, Khomas Region

Lodestone Namibia is a privately funded mining company that holds the Mining Licence (ML) 182 within their Exclusive Prospecting License (EPL) 7352, which replaced EPL 3112. Notably, Lodestone established Namibia's first iron mine, the Dordabis iron mine, which began producing magnetite and hematite products for niche consumers in mid-2015. The Dordabis mine produced 4,000 tonnes of iron in its initial year and is projected to operate until 2035, according to the Chamber of Mines Annual Review. The company was founded to supply iron ore to uranium producers in Namibia and to provide magnetite and hematite for various industrial consumers. One significant industrial application of their magnetite is its use by Ohorongo Cement and Cheetah Cement in manufacturing, highlighting the importance of locally sourced inputs for upstream value addition in Namibia's industrial processes. As part of its operations the company purchases and stores diesel on site for its various fleet of vehicles and machinery. The fuel is sourced from ENGEN Namibia (Pty) Ltd. ENGEN Namibia (Pty) Ltd as a leading marketer of liquid fuels and lubricants in the country aims to ensure that all their clients and facilities are compliant with the relevant environmental and industry legislation. It is against this background that Engen has appointed Environam Consultants Trading (ETC) to apply for an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for the consumer installations on this site on their behalf.
