WASTE MANAGEMENT, TREATMENT, HANDLING AND DISPOSAL ACTIVITIES 2.2 Any activity entailing a scheduled process referred to in the Atmospheric Pollution Prevention Ordinance, 1976. • Bi-weekly septic tank emptying ensures compliance with regulatory standards and minimizes environmental contamination risks. FORESTRY ACTIVITIES The clearance of forest area, deforestation, afforestation, timber harvesting or any other related activity that requires authorisation in terms of the Forest Act, 2001 (Act No.12 of 2001) or any other law • Existing roads are utilized for access to minimize environmental impact and avoid the creation of new tracks and cut lines. • The clearance area is minimized through meticulous project planning to reduce the environmental footprint and preserve natural habitats. • Protected species and trees larger than 18cm in diameter at the base are identified and safeguarded, ensuring they are not included in the clearing process to uphold biodiversity and ecosystem integrity. HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES TREATMENT, HANDLING AND STORAGE -The manufacturing, storage, handling, or processing of a hazardous substance defined in the Hazardous Substance Ordinance, 197. -Any process or activity which requires a permit, licence or other form of authorisation, or the modification of or changes to existing facilities for any process or activity which requires an amendment of an existing permit, licence or authorisation or which requires a new permit, licence or authorisation in terms of a law governing the generation or release of emissions, pollution, effluent or waste. • Measures in place to mitigate the environmental impact of hazardous substance handling, including spill response plans, containment measures, and emergency procedures. • The storage of hydrocarbons is 110% bunded and the handling of hydrocarbons involves the usage of drip trays in the workshop with a concrete floor.
